Karen Blixen was named after the owner a Danish author who was a famous writer in the early 1934 by visiting the Museum you will gain insight into her remarkable life through her well-preserved possessions. You will also stop at the Giraffe Center to see, feed and touch the rare Rothschild giraffes and later visit Kazuri or Utamaduni Market to buy authentic African crafts such as carvings and jewelry which are perfect souvenirs.
Karen Blixen was also one of the pioneer coffee farmers in Kenya and the Museum lies on then beautiful coffee plantation. See how she adjusted to the white settler life in pre-Independence Kenya and admire the well-preserved lion-skin carpet, colonial style china, paintings, and books. Walk through the immaculately kept gardens and get a magnificent view of the Ngong Hills. The home is also featured in her famous book “out of Africa” best selling.
